How To Work From Home

Whether you have already decided that you are ready to dive into the field of virtual assistance, or if you are still thinking of making the transition from corporate hot-shot or otherwise to being a virtual assistant, you will likely have many questions. Many people want to know the logistics of how to work from home. How does it really work? How can I effectively provide virtual assistant services to clients (and, how can I find those clients)?

There are many things to think about when considering how to work from home. We can't cover it all here but we do cover this in detail in our start-up kit.) The first thing to think about, of course, is what you are going to do. Providing virtual assistant services to small businesses is a good way to utilize your experience in the administrative field. Virtual assistance is an industry that is growing by leaps and bounds. More and more people are choosing to be entrepreneurs instead of working in a traditional corporate environment. Also, business owners are becoming more and more "virtually oriented," and more open to hiring a virtual assistant over traditional in-house staff.

Other things you should do when figuring out how to work from home are: define your target market; create a business plan; choose a business name and get a DBA if you need one; and develop your professional "business look." (We cover all of this and more in our start-up kit.) Setting up a good home office is also important. Make sure you pick a comfortable spot in your home - you are going to spend a lot of time there!

Like we mentioned, when you are providing virtual assistance to business owners, you will be spending a lot of time in your home office, so it is important for you to get out and network, network, network so you can bring in clients! When you meet a potential client, it's good to focus the conversation on what they need in their business. Then, connect their "problems" to the solutions you can provide through your virtual assistant services.

There are so many things to think about when thinking about how to work from home. Providing virtual assistant services is a perfect business to run from your home office.
